Nasboi Raises Alarm Over Insecurity, Says Bandits Have Stronger Online Visibility Than Authorities
Nigerian content creator and singer Nasiru Bolaji, popularly known as Nasboi, has expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in the country, particularly the rising cases of kidnapping and violent crimes.
In a video shared on social media, Nasboi criticised what he described as the growing boldness of criminal groups who openly circulate disturbing content online without restriction, while questioning the effectiveness of the government’s response.
His comments came after a recent video surfaced showing kidnappers in Oyo State holding abducted teachers and students, an incident that has sparked renewed public outrage. The development followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive ordering the deployment of security operatives to secure the victims’ release.
Reports from captivity also indicated that one of the school principals, Rachael Alamu, alleged that the abductors were becoming increasingly tense after learning that security forces had been mobilised, warning that the victims could be harmed if troops approached their location. She, however, appealed for government negotiations with the kidnappers.
Reacting to the situation, Nasboi argued that the government must adopt stronger measures to tackle kidnapping for ransom and related crimes, insisting that social media access for criminal elements should be restricted.
He said, “The video of the beheaded teacher is all over the internet.
“The bandits themselves are using the internet to spread these videos. They record, upload, and circulate them without fear. And their phones have IP.
“At this point, they even seem to have better online visibility than the authorities meant to stop them. Wow,” he said.
Nasboi further questioned the capacity of the state to handle the situation, suggesting that if Nigeria’s leadership is truly in control, such acts should not persist.
He added, “Unless allegedly…the bandits are stronger than our military,” he stated.
He also urged the federal government to consider seeking external assistance if necessary, stressing that urgent and decisive action is needed to curb the rising wave of insecurity across the country.
