Shoday Explains Why He Avoids Tattoos as He Keeps a Backup Plan Beyond Music

Fast-rising Nigerian singer Shoday, whose real name is Segun Shodade, has shared a surprisingly cautious perspective on his journey in the music industry, revealing that he avoids getting tattoos because he prefers to keep his future options open.
Speaking during a recent interview, the artist explained that his decision is shaped by a realistic understanding of how unpredictable the entertainment world can be, even for talented and fast-growing acts.
Shoday noted that while music remains his passion, he does not see it as a guaranteed path to lifelong success. For that reason, he has chosen to maintain a mindset that allows him to pivot if things don’t go as planned.
“I don’t have a tattoo on my body because I am skeptical. If music doesn’t work, I will carry my files and go back to office work. I don’t want to put myself in a position where I limit my future options.”
He further emphasized that his approach is not driven by fear, but by practicality, stressing that having a backup plan brings him peace of mind as he builds his career in music.
According to him, the reality of the industry is that success is never guaranteed, regardless of talent or effort.
“Music is not guaranteed for anybody. I enjoy what I do, but I also understand that life can change at any time,” he said.
Shoday’s comments highlight a growing mindset among young creatives who are balancing ambition with caution, choosing to enjoy their passion while still preparing for life beyond the spotlight.
“The reason I don’t have a tattoo on my body is because I am skeptical, if music doesn’t work, I will carry my files and go back to office work.”
