Global music icon Shakira has officially stepped back into the World Cup spotlight, unveiling the lead song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Nigerian superstar Burna Boy.

The tournament, set to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will now carry a new global anthem titled “Dai Dai,” a vibrant collaboration that brings together Latin pop energy and Afrobeats rhythm in one international package.
The announcement was made on Thursday through a joint video shared by Shakira, Burna Boy, and FIFA, instantly generating global attention. In the visually striking clip, Shakira is seen performing energetic choreography with dancers at Brazil’s iconic Maracanã Stadium, with the cast styled in colours representing participating World Cup nations.
Musically, “Dai Dai” leans into a fusion of reggaetón and Afrobeats, blending Shakira’s signature Latin pop delivery with Burna Boy’s deep, rhythmic African influence. The song carries a motivational message centred on resilience, identity, and strength through struggle.
“You from the day you were born, here in the space you belong… what broke you once, made you strong,” Shakira sings on the track.
The full version of “Dai Dai” is scheduled for official release on May 14, 2026.
For Shakira, this marks a return to football’s biggest stage after more than a decade. She famously delivered “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and later contributed “La La La (Brazil 2014)” for the tournament in Brazil.
Her latest collaboration with Burna Boy now positions “Dai Dai” as one of the most anticipated global anthems of the 2026 tournament, bringing together two powerhouse artists from different continents for a shared cultural moment on the world stage.
