Nigerian singer Crayon has shared fresh details about his early days in the music industry, revisiting an encounter he says he had with superstar Tiwa Savage in 2018.
The “Aye” crooner made the revelation during a livestream session with entertainer Carter Efe, where he reflected on his admiration for the award-winning singer and the experiences that shaped his early journey in music.
Crayon, who recently made headlines following comments about his former label Mavin Records, spoke about the moment he met Tiwa Savage, describing it as a memorable part of his early career years. He also referenced how the encounter influenced aspects of his personal lifestyle at the time.
During the livestream, he said:
”She was my crush in 2018. She gave me my first backy and she asked, ‘Do I smoke?‘”, The singer said, while recounting his encounter with Tiwa Savage.

Crayon rose to mainstream attention in 2019 with his breakout single “Aye,” which helped establish him as one of the new-generation voices in Afrobeats and paved the way for collaborations with several top Nigerian artists.
He joined Mavin Records in 2017 and recently announced his exit from the label, revealing he is now an independent artist under Olodum Entertainment. His departure followed public comments in which he accused the label of withholding payments and royalties, further fueling conversations around artist-label relationships in the industry.
