Nigerian Afropop star Ayra Starr has kicked off the year with a brand-new single titled “Where Do We Go,” marking her first release of the year.
The track was released through Mavin Records and produced by ILYA. It blends vibrant Afropop rhythms with upbeat percussion and bass-heavy instrumentation, creating a lively soundscape for Ayra’s expressive vocals.

Lyrically, the song centers on the complexities of romantic relationships, delivered over a fast-paced, dance-ready production.
‘Where Do We Go’ arrives months after she collaborates with Rema on ‘Who’s Dat Girl,’ which dropped in October last year.
On the new record, Ayra leans into a darker, Afro-electronic vibe, allowing her deeper vocal tone to glide smoothly over the atmospheric production. The late-night anthem captures the excitement of a passionate encounter, while an inner monologue subtly questions whether there might be more beneath the surface.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, the singer shared:
“I’m obsessed with this track. Like it has been my track for a while, a long time, and it’s just the track that I would get ready to, like me and my friends. And it was just like our like get ready song, and it was a very funny situation that inspired the song.”
The release follows a major breakout period for the singer. In 2025, her global hit Rush surpassed 500 million streams on Spotify, helping solidify her status as one of Africa’s fastest-rising pop stars. The milestone also made Ayra Starr the first African female artist to have two songs surpass 500 million streams on the platform.
With ‘Where Do We Go’, Ayra Starr signals the start of a new musical chapter, as fans anticipate more releases from the singer in the months ahead.
