Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has officially set the tone for his 2026 campaign, confirming the release date and exact time for his first single of the year.

The announcement came through a heartfelt letter shared on his Substack, where the “Kweku The Traveller” crooner opened up about his journey, struggles, and growth.

In an emotional note to fans, Sherif revealed that his new song, along with its music video, will be released this Friday at exactly 5:57 AM, a time he described as “Top of the Morning.”

But beyond the timestamp, the message felt like a personal diary entry.

Reflecting on his meteoric rise, Sherif revisited the “hurdles and sleepless nights” that shaped his early days. He recalled being told at 17 that his voice “wasn’t good enough,” a comment that could have ended a dream.

Instead, it fueled one of Africa’s most compelling breakout stories, one that has since seen him sell out consecutive nights in London and perform to more than 20,000 fans in a stadium.

“Nothing was handed to us,” Sherif wrote. “We worked late nights into early mornings… It took time to realize these stab wounds had to happen for us to realize how great we were to become.”

The letter also peeled back the curtain on his private world. He shared memories of quiet mornings spent on the balcony of his first property and solitary late-night drives he took “just to feel human again.”

He paid tribute to his longtime collaborator, Obala, reminiscing about their early creative sessions on cracked phone screens long before fame and flashing cameras became part of daily life.

Sherif did not shy away from discussing the personal and legal battles that have influenced his artistry.

He referenced the resolution of a long-running case that once left his mother in tears, admitting, “No one in their right minds would still be here,” a statement that underscored the mental resilience required to navigate both success and scrutiny.

With the reflective chapter now shared, fans can prepare for what appears to be the beginning of a new era. Black Sherif’s first offering of 2026 arrives this Friday at 5:57 AM, ushering in what he clearly intends to be another defining year.
