Award-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has seemingly thrown subtle shade at Burna Boy amid his heated online exchange with Seun Kuti.

January 20, 2026, was marked by intense drama across Nigerian social media as Wizkid and Seun Kuti engaged in a fiery back-and-forth that quickly dominated conversations within the music industry.

Seun Kuti had earlier made headlines for repeatedly attacking Wizkid FC, describing them as the most ignorant fan base and heavily criticising them for calling Wizkid the “New Fela.” His comments also extended to personal jabs, including remarks about the late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

After remaining silent for weeks, Wizkid finally clapped back aggressively, referring to Seun Kuti as a “fool at 40” and a “hungry bastard,” accusing him of unnecessary hatred towards both him and his fans. The Essence crooner went further to boast about his status, claiming he is bigger than Fela Kuti, while also making disparaging remarks about Seun Kuti’s wife.

In response, Seun Kuti doubled down, insisting that his father’s legacy remains unmatched. He mocked Wizkid’s height, called him names, and escalated the feud by making allegations involving embattled American music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs.

    Seun Kuti wrote:

“Free Diddy. His Lagos babe is missing him. @Wizkdayo.”

Wizkid swiftly replied, saying Nigerians already know who “Diddy Baba” is, a statement many interpreted as indirect shade. Over the years, Burna Boy—another Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar—has often been linked to Diddy through online speculation, making Wizkid’s response raise eyebrows.

    Wizkid wrote:

“We all know who be Diddy Baba for Naija. If na chain you want come collect too oh, make una free me, my mouth no good oh.”

Fuel was added to the speculation when popular blogger Tunde Ednut hinted that Wizkid’s reply wasn’t only directed at Seun Kuti but also subtly aimed at Burna Boy.

    Tunde Ednut wrote:

“Omo, Burna Boy sef collect. Burna Boy won’t let this slide. The internet go sweet soon.”

As expected, fans quickly picked sides, with many now anticipating whether Burna Boy will respond or choose to stay silent as the drama continues to unfold.
