Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has responded sharply to claims that he is using Wizkid’s name to seek relevance, dismissing the accusations as baseless and disrespectful to his long-standing career.

In a video circulating online, the outspoken artist addressed Wizkid’s fans who accused him of chasing clout, making it clear that his career has never needed revival. Seun backed his stance with numbers, revealing that he performed at 82 international shows in 2025 alone.

According to him, his music continues to resonate with audiences across the world, as evidenced by sold-out performances in Australia, Europe, America, and Brazil.

“Some people are saying I am trying to use Wizkid to revive my career,” Seun said. “When did my career die for me to be trying to revive it? Last year alone, I did 82 shows globally. I sold out shows in Australia, Europe, America, and Brazil. I have people who are fans of my music worldwide.”

Using a vivid metaphor, the son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti emphasized that success is not a limited space.

“I call myself Big Bird because the sky is big for everybody. No matter how big you are, you can’t occupy the whole sky,” he added. “People whose careers need revival know themselves. It is not me.”

Seun’s comments have since sparked fresh conversations online about longevity, relevance, and respect across different generations of Nigerian music stars.
