Young Jonn Fires Back at Critics Questioning His Sound

Nigerian singer and producer John Saviours Udomboso, better known as Young Jonn, has sent a firm message to critics who have been taking jabs at his sound.

The artist took to his X handle after stumbling across comments claiming that his music had become “monotonous.”

Rather than stay silent, Young Jonn made it clear that anyone who doesn’t appreciate his craft should simply steer clear instead of downplaying the years he has poured into building his name.

    In his words:
“If you’re not a fan of my work, leave it at that! Don’t come here and water down my years of hard work!”

Young Jonn, who first carved out a reputation in the early 2010s through his steady run of hits with YBNL, has since evolved from a star producer into one of Afrobeats’ most recognisable voices.

His transition to a full-fledged recording artist, later signing with Chocolate City, only amplified his influence.

For him, the message is simple: respect the grind—or move along.

In other news, Young Jonn has pulled back the curtain on his long and quietly blossoming bond with Afrobeats powerhouse Asake, one that started long before the fame, the hits, and the global spotlight.

In a recent radio chat, the producer and singer spoke with warmth as he traced their connection back to the early grind.

According to him, he and Asake had been locked in studio sessions for years, long before either of their names carried weight in the industry. He described Asake as more than just a collaborator, someone he grew close to through countless hours of experimenting, recording, and dreaming before the world began paying attention.
