Burna Boy Offers Solace to Stockton Families, Covering Funeral Expenses for Four Victims
Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has pledged to cover the funeral expenses for all four victims of a tragic mass shooting in Stockton, California, showing solidarity with the grieving families.
The incident occurred on November 29, 2025, during a children’s birthday party, leaving three children aged 8, 9, and 14, along with a 21-year-old, dead. Eleven others were injured in the shocking act of violence that has deeply affected the community.
Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee confirmed that Burna Boy reached out immediately upon learning of the tragedy, expressing sorrow and a desire to help.
The Afrobeats superstar said, “When I heard about the children murdered in Stockton, my heart broke. No family should ever face this kind of pain alone. I wanted to do whatever I could to support these parents as they begin the long process of healing.”
Reports indicate that the gesture was inspired in part by 14-year-old Amari Peterson, a standout student-athlete with a 3.8 GPA whose life was cut short. Burna Boy’s team confirmed that he would fund the funeral arrangements for all four victims.
The artist, renowned for his philanthropic work through initiatives like the REACH Nigeria Foundation, has previously supported vulnerable communities in his hometown of Port Harcourt.
While his act has been widely praised online, some critics questioned why he extended help abroad amid ongoing security challenges in Nigeria.
