Odumodublvck Shares How His Hit Collaboration with Davido and Seun Kuti Came to Life

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has opened up about how his viral collaboration with Davido and Seun Kuti came together, offering fans a glimpse into the creative process behind the chart-topping hit Grooving.
Speaking in an interview that surfaced online on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the Declan Rice hitmaker revealed that Davido’s persistence and energy were the driving forces that made the collaboration happen.
According to Odumodublvck, the process began when Davido, who affectionately calls him “D-Rice,” after his breakout single, started reaching out from abroad.
“Davido called me when he was in London, saying, ‘We go record today oh,’” Odumodublvck recounted. “He called me again when he was in Ghana. I told him I was in Lagos, and he said, ‘Oh yeah, come today, come today!’ And that’s how we did Grooving, an amazing record.”
Despite Davido’s busy travel schedule, the two eventually linked up in Lagos to record what would become one of the standout tracks on Odumodublvck’s 2025 album Industry Machine.
The rapper also reflected on the importance of having Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, on the track.
“I sent it to Seun Kuti, son of Fela Anikulapo. That’s African legacy running in his blood,” he said. “It’s amazing because I used to listen to Fela growing up, and now having his son on my project feels legendary.”
With Grooving, Odumodublvck fuses his bold rap energy with Davido’s Afrobeats vibrancy and Seun Kuti’s authentic Afrobeat essence, bridging generations and sounds in a track that celebrates African music’s evolution and enduring legacy.
