Tyla Joins Glamour’s Women of the Year List: From Johannesburg to Global Icon

South Africa’s global music sensation, Tyla, has earned yet another major international honor, being named one of Glamour Magazine’s Women of the Year, an award that celebrates fearless women shaping culture, creativity, and courage across the globe.
The annual Glamour Women of the Year Awards recognises trailblazers from all walks of life, from entertainment and activism to science, politics, and business, whose voices continue to spark change and inspire millions.
This year’s ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 180 The Strand in London, where some of the world’s most influential women will gather for a night dedicated to sisterhood, solidarity, and success.
Over the years, the event has honoured a wide range of icons. Bridgerton star Simone Ashley used her moment on stage to call out everyday sexism, while The Little Mermaid actress Halle Bailey spoke passionately about empowering young women.
Last year, Pamela Anderson reminded audiences of the value of staying true to oneself in a world obsessed with image.
Now, the spotlight shines on Tyla, the 23-year-old artist who has taken the world by storm with her unique blend of pop, amapiano, gqom, and Bacardi. Her refreshing sound has turned her into a global phenomenon, seamlessly fusing South African rhythm with worldwide appeal.
Everyone wants to party with Tyla. ✨ The 23-year-old Grammy-winning singer and global #GlamourWOTY has quickly become a household name due to her infectious music while creating viral moves we’d probably all replicate if our waists would cooperate.

Fresh off the success of her 2024 self-titled debut album and her Grammy win for Best African Music Performance for the viral hit “Water,” Tyla raised the bar again in July 2025 with her EP WWP (We Wanna Party). The four-track project shattered her previous streaming records, racking up nearly 1.3 million streams in just one day.
For her Glamour photoshoot, Tyla didn’t just bring music; she brought style. The young star turned the feature into a full-on fashion showcase, dazzling in a Christopher John Rogers green corseted ensemble that perfectly balanced structure and grace.
On the cover, she glowed in a golden-yellow Saint Laurent dress, while other looks included a sleek black Stella McCartney gown, a wine-red Di Piesta dress, a Vettese white co-ord, and a romantic floral number by Blumarine.
From her Grammy-winning melodies to her boundary-pushing style, Tyla’s rise continues to echo beyond music, a modern-day symbol of African excellence making its mark on the world stage.
