American R&B sensation Victoria Monét has shared the unexpected story behind her chart-topping collaboration with Afrobeats superstar Davido on the fan-favorite record Offa Me.

In a recent interview published online on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Grammy Award-winning singer disclosed that the song was never originally planned to feature Davido. Instead, it found its way to him through what she described as an “unplanned chain of events.”
Monét revealed that Offa Me was first created during a casual studio session with Haitian producer Michaël Brun, widely known for blending Afrobeats, Dancehall, and other global sounds.
“I was working with a producer from Haiti named Michaël Brun. We made the song randomly, and some months later, I don’t even know how it got to Davido, but he called me and said Davido wanted the song and we just did it,” she explained.

What began as a spontaneous recording ended up becoming one of the standout tracks on Davido’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, 5ive. Since its release, Offa Me has gained wide acclaim for its smooth fusion of Afrobeats and R&B, as well as the natural chemistry between both artists.
The collaboration underscores how unpredictable today’s music industry has become, with songs often crossing borders before reaching the right voice. It also highlights Davido’s instinct for identifying global hits and building cultural bridges through music.
As Offa Me continues to resonate with fans worldwide, the partnership between Monét and Davido not only expands his international influence but also showcases the growing power of organic, cross-border collaborations in shaping the future of global music.
