Whoever gives me money first gets my endorsement in 2027 — Portable

Controversial Nigerian street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has once again set tongues wagging following a blunt declaration about his stance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, the self-styled Zazu Zeh crooner revealed that his political support will go to any presidential candidate willing to “drop money” for him.
According to him, whichever of President Bola Tinubu, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) makes the first financial move will not only earn his endorsement but also secure the backing of his fan base.
He said, “My fans, vote whoever you want. Before, I used to say otherwise. But for 2027, I will only vote for anyone who gives me money. Whoever drops money first between Peter Obi, Tinubu, or PDP, I will endorse. I can’t go about hungry—vote for your helper.”
Portable’s remarks come months after he recounted a disappointing encounter with Peter Obi in Benin City, Edo State, where he claimed the former Anambra governor only offered him a handshake, unlike President Tinubu, who, according to him, had been more generous.
In July, the singer also met with Seyi Tinubu, son of the president, and later showered praises on him for “changing his life,” while expressing confidence in the Tinubu administration.
The video has since sparked heated reactions online, with many Nigerians criticizing Portable for commercializing his political support, while others dismissed his statement as another publicity stunt.
