Nigerian singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as Mr May D, is trending on social media after a heated exchange that followed his recent performance at an event in Lagos.

The Soundtrack crooner, alongside street-pop star Small Doctor, thrilled fans at the Huspuppi Cup opening ceremony in Oworoshoki. However, clips of May D performing in front of a lively street crowd quickly surfaced online, triggering mixed reactions.
The drama escalated when Tufab, a close associate of Wizkid, threw shade with a mocking tweet: “For May D mind he dey perform for 02 Arena. Sold Out.” Although he later deleted the post, it had already gone viral and stirred widespread backlash.

Veteran DJ Neptune came to May D’s defense, slamming Tufab for belittling an artist earning an honest living through music. “Your fellow man is hustling legally for his daily bread with his God-given talent, and this is what you have to say? Everything shouldn’t be for cruise. E red today, no mean say e no go green tomorrow. SMH,” he tweeted.

Rapper Skales also waded in, dragging Tufab for constantly trolling artists online. He described him as “an old man, probably almost 40, who has no real job but spends time insulting people like he’s in his early 20s.”
