‘I did not know my wife Temi was from a wealthy family when I met her’: Singer Mr Eazi

Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, widely known as Mr Eazi, once revealed that he had no idea his wife, Temi Otedola, came from a wealthy background when they first crossed paths.
The revelation, captured in a resurfaced 2018 interview, has been drawing attention online following his lavish $15 million wedding to Temi, the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola.
The grand ceremony, which featured a $250,000 bridal gown, was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and BUA Cement chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu.
In the old interview, Mr Eazi explained that his first encounter with Temi happened through her elder sister, DJ Cuppy, who had invited him to an event she was performing at in London. “While Cuppy was playing, all of a sudden, it was me and Temi,” he recalled.
When asked if he knew he was speaking with an heiress to a billion-dollar fortune, the Skin Tight crooner responded simply: “I knew I was talking to my friend’s sister.”
He emphasized that he never paid attention to her father’s net worth, stressing instead that his love for Temi was genuine and natural.
Interestingly, during the same interview, Mr Eazi described his ideal wedding as a private, intimate affair on an island, attended by no more than 50 family members and friends. “Some coded place, some island with few family and friends, maximum 50 people, just some nice romantic things with flowers, candles, and secrets where no cameras are allowed,” he said at the time.
Fast forward to 2025, the couple’s wedding has become one of the most talked-about Nigerian celebrity unions, contrasting sharply with the singer’s once-modest vision of a “coded” celebration.
