Odumodublvck Reveals Music Was Never in His Original Career Plans

Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, widely known as Odumodublvck, has revealed that music was never part of his original career plans.
The 31-year-old hitmaker shared this in a recent interview, admitting that he stumbled into music almost by accident.
According to him, his first dream was to work behind the scenes as an artist manager, but fate had other plans.
“I never said I wanted to be an artist. I wanted to go and manage somebody, and the person asked me to write music. I gave it a chance, and that’s how it started. Music called me,” he explained.
Odumodublvck recalled that his journey began when a friend who had just dropped out of school invited him to the studio. With only ₦20,000 left between them, they invested it in music production. What was meant to be a managerial role quickly turned into something bigger when Odumodu ended up writing the song himself.
Despite music not being his first choice, the rapper has gone on to build a highly successful career, decorated with awards and chart-topping hits. His 2023 anthem Declan Rice was recognized by Spotify as the second-biggest global rap track of the year, topping Apple Music Nigeria’s Top 100 and cracking Spotify Nigeria’s Top 5.
Most recently, in April 2025, Odumodublvck clinched the coveted Next Rated Artist award at the Headies, further cementing his place as one of the leading voices of the new school.
