Shoday explains why Portable’s career isn’t slowing down anytime soon

Nigerian singer Shoday has weighed in on the longevity of street-hop star Portable, insisting that the controversial artist still has a long run ahead despite critics often writing him off.
Speaking in a recent interview, Shoday said Portable’s influence is bigger than his music, pointing to his raw personality and constant online visibility as the secret behind his staying power.
“Artists like Portable, before he will go down and not trend again, it’ll be long,” Shoday said. “Music is far beyond a song. People need to know who you are. People need to know your personality.”
For Shoday, Portable’s unfiltered approach to social media is what makes him impossible to ignore. “This person doesn’t care. He posts on Instagram like WhatsApp,” he added, describing how the Zazuu crooner constantly gives fans an uncensored view of his life.
When Portable first emerged, many predicted he would fade after one viral hit. But years later, Shoday noted, he continues to dominate conversations. “When he came out, people thought he was only going to trend for a year and that’s that, but till today he’s still buzzing.”
According to Shoday, another reason Portable remains relevant is his ability to turn scandals into material. “Every controversy, there’s a song he drops. He drops a song for it,” he explained.
With his chaotic energy, unapologetic personality, and sharp instinct for the spotlight, Portable has transformed controversy into a brand — ensuring his name stays at the center of Nigeria’s music scene.
