Manchester United’s new No.1?! Red Devils complete Senne Lammens signing from Royal Antwerp

Manchester United have announced the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on a long-term contract.
The 23-year-old arrives at Old Trafford after both clubs reached an agreement worth £18.2 million (€21m/$24.5m), with a further £3.4m (€4m/$4.6m) in potential add-ons, according to The Athletic. Notably, the deal does not include a sell-on clause.
Lammens, who stands at 6ft 4in (193cm), is expected to provide strong competition for current goalkeepers Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, both of whom have come under criticism after recent costly errors.

Onana’s mistakes contributed to United’s shock Carabao Cup exit against League Two side Grimsby Town, while Bayindir has been at fault in league matches against Arsenal and Burnley.
In his first words as a United player, Lammens told the club’s official website:
“I am extremely proud to be joining Manchester United; it is a real dream come true. The past few years have been an amazing journey; it’s now ended in an incredible destination and hopefully the beginning of something special.
You can feel the positive atmosphere that is being created here, and I know that I can make a real impact at the club in the coming years. I cannot wait to get to know my team-mates and begin working with Ruben and the coaching staff. This is the perfect place to keep developing, grow together with this exciting team and achieve my career objectives.”

Lammens made 64 appearances for Antwerp in all competitions, winning the Belgian Super Cup in 2023. Although yet to earn his first senior cap for Belgium, he was previously called up for their World Cup qualifying games against North Macedonia and Wales in June.
While he has not been selected for Belgium’s international fixtures this month, the new signing could make his competitive debut in the Manchester Derby on September 14, when Erik ten Hag’s men face Pep Guardiola’s City.
A warm United welcome to our new goalkeeper: Senne Lammens! 🧤🇧🇪
