Lojay’s highly anticipated debut album ‘XOXO’ postponed ahead of initial release

Nigerian singer and songwriter Lojay has announced that his debut album, XOXO, will no longer be released on its initial date, Friday, August 22, 2025.
The fast-rising Afrobeats star broke the news to fans on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, explaining that he needs “a little more time” to finalize the project.
Lojay, who has steadily built a reputation for blending rich melodies with raw emotion, had generated significant buzz around XOXO.
The project was introduced with pre-save links, promotional teasers, and early hints of a supporting tour. Billed as a carefully curated debut, the album was expected to represent a career-defining moment for the artist, underscoring his versatility and his place among Afrobeats’ most dynamic voices.
Sharing his thoughts in a heartfelt statement, he wrote:
“My people, I’ve been working on this album for the last 2 years and I’ve put so much of myself into it. There have been a few things out of my control that mean I need just a little more time before I can share it with you.”
Lojay further stressed the importance of delivering quality, saying:
“This being my debut album, it’s so important to me that when you press play, it feels timeless. After all this time, I want to be sure it’s exactly right. So we’re moving it back by a few weeks to get it there.”
He rounded off with appreciation to his fans for their patience:
“I really hope you’ll still rock with me through this, your patience and support mean everything. I promise it’ll be worth the wait.”
Though a new release date has not yet been confirmed beyond “a few weeks,” expectations remain high that XOXO will arrive as one of the standout Afrobeats projects of the year.
