Davido pays tribute to Sound Sultan in new music video

Global Afrobeats icon Davido has released the highly anticipated visuals for 10 Kilo, a standout track from his chart-topping fifth studio album, 5IVE.
Dropped on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the colourful and empowering music video blends celebration, style, and a heartfelt homage to the late Nigerian music legend Sound Sultan.
Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Director Pink, the video bursts with vibrant scenery, playful choreography, and a diverse cast of women from around the world. It champions body confidence and self-love, challenging conventional beauty standards in the Afrobeats space.
Subtle yet touching references to Sound Sultan appear throughout — a nod to an artist Davido has long admired and credited as an influence.

Born Olanrewaju Fasasi, Sound Sultan was a trailblazer in Nigerian music, celebrated for his socially conscious storytelling and seamless blend of Afrobeats, hip-hop, and R&B.
Known for hits like Jagbajantis and Mathematics, his career was marked by numerous awards, including Musician of the Year at The Headies. His passing in July 2021 from angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma left a deep void in the industry, but his impact continues to inspire a new generation of artists.
This is not Davido’s first time paying tribute to late music pioneers. He has previously honoured figures such as rapper DaGrin, weaving their legacies into his artistry. In 10 Kilo, the blend of infectious rhythm, striking visuals, and cultural reverence cements Davido’s role as both a hitmaker and a custodian of Nigerian music history.
The release also coincides with a joyful milestone in Davido’s personal life: his lavish white wedding to long-time partner Chioma in Miami. The upbeat energy of the video mirrors this celebratory chapter, delivering not just a visual feast but a statement of love, unity, and remembrance.
With 10 Kilo, Davido continues to push Afrobeats into new territory where music meets meaning and where legacy is honoured through rhythm and colour.
