Omah Lay Sparks Debate After Cryptic “Burner Account” Revelation Involving Rema

Multiple award-winning Nigerian singer and performer Omah Lay has sparked heated discussions on social media after sharing what appear to be private exchanges with Mavin Records star Rema, posted from an account many believe to be his alter ego, Story of an Angel.
The screenshots, dating back to December 2023, revealed the two artists discussing music concepts and the possibility of a collaboration. However, what caught public attention was a “Mara” recording allegedly sent by Omah Lay.
The conversation resurfaced in light of recent commentary describing Rema’s new sound as “Mara,” prompting speculation among fans.
The development has revived conversations about Omah Lay’s revelation in August 2024 that his album concept was stolen, forcing him to completely re-record the project.
While he never publicly named the artist involved, describing the culprit only as a “close friend,” the Story of an Angel post has led fans to draw their connections.
The post’s cryptic caption read in part:
“With love, well-being, and clarity, 🐐 has now healed and forgiven himself—both from this wound and from others still unknown to the public… For the last three years, 🐐 has been a major force of innovation in the genre even without the release of new music. Now… 🐐 has resolved to spend the rest of his life… inflicting the exact same level of trauma he has endured — on his enemies and anyone who will or has tampered with his craft…”

The speculation gained weight after popular producer Tempoe confirmed in an earlier interview that Omah Lay’s work had indeed been stolen by another artist, resulting in a complete restart of the project.
Neither Omah Lay nor Rema has directly addressed the recent posts, but the buzz has heightened anticipation for Omah Lay’s next body of work, with fans eager to hear the sound that has caused so much controversy.
