‘Fly high again’ – Benjamin Sesko reveals why he joined ‘unbelievable’ Manchester United as £74m striker sets targets after Old Trafford arrival

Benjamin Šeško says he is determined to help Manchester United “fly high again” after completing his high-profile switch from RB Leipzig.
The 22-year-old Slovenian striker sealed a deal worth up to £74 million ($100m) on Saturday, penning a contract that runs until 2030. Speaking ahead of a possible debut, Šeško explained that United’s rich legacy played a major role in his decision to join Ruben Amorim’s side, who endured a disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League last season.
“The most important thing is that we keep improving together,” Šeško told the club’s official media. “We have to connect as a team, take it step by step, and keep building until we’re complete. I believe it’s only a matter of time before we’re flying high again.”
On why he chose United, the former Leipzig forward added: “First of all, it’s the club itself — the history here is unbelievable. The team is strong and getting better, and there’s just something about the project that fills you with energy and makes you want to be part of it. I’m excited to get started.”

While the move has delighted United fans, Šeško will be expected to deliver quickly. Goal-scoring has been a persistent problem at Old Trafford, with Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee managing just seven league goals between them last term. Standing at 6ft 5in, the new arrival is likely to shoulder much of the attacking burden from day one.
United open their league campaign at home to rivals Arsenal on Sunday, followed by a trip to Fulham a week later, before welcoming newly-promoted Burnley to Old Trafford on August 30.
