Here is Ademola Lookman’s statement amidst the ongoing transfer saga involving the forward and his club, Atalanta.

Nigerian international and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has broken his silence regarding ongoing transfer speculation, confirming his desire to leave the Serie A side during the summer transfer window of 2025.
With growing reports linking him to a potential move to Inter Milan, Lookman has now made his position clear through an official and heartfelt statement, expressing his intentions to seek a new challenge while also shedding light on behind-the-scenes tensions at Atalanta.
“I hope to work together with the club to find an amicable solution for all parties as soon as possible,” Lookman said, signalling his openness to a respectful parting.
Reflecting on his time in Bergamo, the 26-year-old spoke with deep emotion:
“Over the past three years at Atalanta, I’ve given absolutely everything. Not just as a footballer, but as a person. I’ve always worn the shirt with pride and tried to represent this club and the city of Bergamo with heart, passion and dedication.”
Lookman also recalled his crowning moment with the club their UEFA Europa League triumph:
“Winning the Europa League and standing shoulder to shoulder with my teammates that night in Dublin celebrating with our fans was one of the proudest moments of my career so far. It still gives me goosebumps.”
However, while acknowledging the love he received from fans and the connection he felt with the city, Lookman admitted that recent events have soured the relationship between him and the club’s management.
“Despite now receiving an offer in alignment to what I believe had been discussed, sadly the club are blocking the opportunity for reasons I do not understand,” he revealed.
In a rare show of frustration, the former Leicester and RB Leipzig winger accused the club of failing to honour past agreements.
“After many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me as both a human being and as a professional footballer, sadly I feel I have no choice but to speak out,” he said, adding that he has now formally submitted a transfer request.
Lookman insisted that he had hoped to resolve the situation quietly and respectfully but felt compelled to make his stance public due to lack of progress. He ended his message with a heartfelt note to the supporters.
“To the fans – the heartbeat of this club – I want to say this: I’m truly sorry it’s come to this… The support you have always given me has been incredible and the bond we have created together is special.”
Lookman’s emotional farewell hints at a bitter standoff with Atalanta’s board, but it remains to be seen whether the club will honour his request before the close of the transfer window.
