Adekunle Gold rewards Nigerians first-class graduates with N250k each

Nigerian Afropop star Adekunle Gold, popularly known as AG Baby, has captured national attention with a heartwarming act of generosity, awarding cash prizes of ₦250,000 each to several Nigerians who graduated with first-class honors.
The unexpected initiative kicked off on Tuesday, July 16, 2025, when the award-winning singer took to his X (formerly Twitter) account with a simple invitation:
“If you graduated with First class, post your transcripts.”
What followed was a flood of academic testimonials and credentials from Nigerians eager to share their academic accomplishments. AG Baby personally reviewed the submissions, selecting multiple recipients for the cash reward, a move that quickly went viral.

“OAU Students, don’t bother.”

The comment referenced a difficult experience during his performance at the university in 2015. At the time, the artist, then relatively new to the scene, had few songs in his catalogue and reportedly repeated his breakout hit Sade several times on stage.
Technical issues further marred the show, resulting in booing from students, who allegedly stormed his hotel and withheld part of his performance fee.
Despite the memory, AG Baby’s recent show of kindness has been met with admiration from fans, who commended him for celebrating academic excellence and extending financial support to deserving Nigerians.
The initiative highlights Adekunle Gold’s evolving public image, from once-bashed performer to a champion of talent, achievement, and goodwill.
Thank you very much, sir.
May God bless you and all that concerns you. I so much appreciate you.❤️ @adekunleGOLD https://t.co/vOrjzU49Iw pic.twitter.com/KcEBOZl48Y— 17🧬 (@klause_tweet) July 16, 2025
