Speed Darlington Blasts Calls to Support ‘Free VDM’ Movement

Controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has lashed out at fans of social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) for urging him to join the ongoing “Free VDM” protest following the activist’s arrest, reportedly by the EFCC.

In a heated live session, Speed Darlington expressed deep frustration over what he saw as hypocrisy and selective activism. Responding to fans who encouraged him to show solidarity for VDM, the artist reminded them of his own past ordeal, stating:

“How many of you protested for me when I was locked up? God punish you! You come to my page to disrespect me.”

Clearly upset, he criticized the double standard in public sympathy, calling out those who he believes ignored his struggles but are now passionately campaigning for someone else.

Speed Darlington’s outburst highlights an emerging divide among Nigerian celebrities and fans over who deserves public support and how solidarity should be shown.

While many entertainers, including Eedris Abdulkareem, have rallied behind VDM, Speed has drawn a line, emphasizing that support should be mutual and not selective.
