Cuppy Reveals the Hidden Agendas Behind Some Acts of Kindness

DJ Cuppy, Nigerian billionaire heiress and prominent disc jockey, has shared a personal story that sheds light on the hidden motives behind some seemingly generous acts of support.

Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) page, Cuppy recounted how she once believed she had found someone who genuinely cared for and supported her during a trying time.

However, she later discovered that the person’s kindness was driven by ulterior motives — mainly to gain access to her father, Femi Otedola, or secure a financial investment.

“I learnt the hard way that there’s no such thing as a FREE lunch,” Cuppy confessed.

“A few years ago, I really thought someone was being kind… But later, they made it clear they expected something in return, an investment or, hilariously, an introduction to my dad. I felt so stupid for not seeing it earlier.”

I learnt the hard way that there’s no such thing as a FREE lunch.

A few years ago, I really thought someone was being kind. They showed up for me, offered help, made me feel supported. I thought it came from a good place… BUT later, they made it clear they expected something in…

The experience left her feeling betrayed and embarrassed, but she’s now using it as a teachable moment, urging her fans to be wary of people whose support may be transactional rather than sincere.

Her honest reflection has sparked widespread reactions online, with many users praising her vulnerability while others highlighted how fame and wealth often attract opportunists.

Cuppy’s post serves as a cautionary reminder: not all help is selfless, even when it seems well-intentioned on the surface.
