Nigerian music megastar Davido recently opened up about how his absence from the industry affected both his career and the broader music scene in an interview on The Ebro Show on Apple Music.
The singer, who took a break following a devastating personal loss in 2022, shared how his absence led to a noticeable lull in the industry, with fans and even detractors calling for his return.
“I was seeing tweets like ‘Damn, it’s so quiet out here. David, please come back. Even people who didn’t like me were like ‘please come back, we need to diss you,.“ Davido revealed, highlighting the void his hiatus left in the music scene.
The period of absence, which preceded the release of his record-breaking album Timeless, was particularly challenging for the artist.

Despite the difficulties, his fans remained supportive, expressing their love through heartfelt messages on social media and showing up for his highly anticipated concert.
The singer’s return to the public eye began with a historic performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, marking his second major appearance after a period of personal grief.

The 17-track album features collaborations with global artists such as Victoria Monet, Shenseea, Dadju, and Tay C, further cementing Davido’s position as a global music icon.
