Zinoleesky sets new Spotify Nigeria record with Debut Album ‘Gen Z’
Nigerian street-pop sensation Zinoleesky has made history with the release of his debut album, Gen Z, which amassed an impressive 2,458,077 streams on Spotify Nigeria on its opening day — the highest ever for a debut album on the platform.
Released on April 25, 2025, the 16-track project marks a major career milestone for the Marlian Music signee, following years of building momentum through hit singles like Ma Pariwo, Kilofeshe, and acclaimed EPs like Grit & Lust.
Ahead of the album’s release, Zinoleesky dropped its lead single, Most Wanted, on April 4. Produced by longtime collaborator Niphkeys, the high-energy track blends Afrobeats, trap, and dancehall influences, paired with a vibrant music video that quickly propelled it to No. 3 on Apple Music Nigeria’s Top 100.
Gen Z sees Zinoleesky expanding his sonic palette with collaborations featuring Naira Marley, Toosii, Ms Banks, and others, creating a rich mix of street-pop energy and global Afrobeats flavor. While opinions on the album’s cohesion vary, the project’s impact is undeniable: within just 48 hours, it also crossed 500,000 streams on Boomplay.
