    The Dutch defender, a towering figure in the heart of the Reds’ defense since 2018, has signed a new two-year contract, extending his stay at Anfield and ending months of speculation surrounding his future.

    Speaking to club media, a visibly emotional Van Dijk shared his joy:

    “I’m very happy, very proud. There are so many emotions that go through my head right now. The journey I’ve had so far in my career—to be able to extend it with another two years at this club—is amazing and I’m so happy.”

    The Reds had been under pressure to resolve the futures of three of their biggest stars—Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold—with their contracts all set to expire this summer.

    While Salah signed a new deal last week, Alexander-Arnold is expected to leave as a free agent.

    Van Dijk, however, made it clear: his heart was always at Anfield.

    “It was always Liverpool. That was the case. It was always in my head, it was always the plan. There wasn’t any doubt in my head that this is the place to be for me and my family.”

    “I’m one of Liverpool. Someone called me the other day an adopted Scouser – I’m really proud to hear these things, it gives me a great feeling.”

    The 33-year-old had been linked with European giants Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, but he has chosen to stay with the club where he won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and more.

    With a new era approaching under incoming manager Arne Slot, Van Dijk’s leadership and experience will be crucial. This extension signals not just loyalty—but a belief in Liverpool’s next chapter.
