Nigerian music star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has set social media on fire after unveiling a striking new look in a recent photoshoot.

The Afrobeats sensation, known for his genre-bending music and ever-evolving style, debuted a fresh set of dreadlocks, marking a return to his signature hairstyle.

This comes after he previously shaved off his dreads in 2020 as a sign of solidarity with the #EndSARS movement, stating at the time: “Dreads don’t mean I’m a criminal #EndSARS.”

Rema’s latest look was revealed in a photoshoot for UK publication Dazed, where he donned a stylish Bottega outfit and posed dramatically with decorative hair pins accentuating his new locks.

One of the most talked-about reactions came from Nollywood producer Stanley Ontop, who humorously reshared the images, writing: “Tongues wag, women and men faint as Rema turns herself into the Queen of Africa.”

His playful comment sparked further discussions online, with fans divided over Rema’s transformation. While many praise his bold aesthetic, others speculate on the inspiration behind the new look.

As conversations continue, one thing is certain—Rema knows how to keep fans talking, both with his music and his ever-evolving style.

The Afrobeats star recently addressed a misleading tweet by Album Talks, which suggested that he criticized fellow Afrobeats artists for not embracing their heritage. The tweet misquoted his interview with Dazed, sparking unnecessary controversy.

Rema swiftly responded, clarifying that his remarks were solely about being one of the few mainstream artists from Benin City, Nigeria—not a critique of the industry.

He directly refuted the misrepresentation by quoting the tweet and stating, “In context of being one of the very few mainstream Artists from Benin. Stop the 🧢.”
