Nigerian rapper Olamide has reached a historic milestone with his album ‘Carpe Diem,’ which has become the first album by a Nigerian rapper to surpass 200 million streams on Spotify.

This remarkable achievement comes four years after the album’s release on October 8, 2020, underscoring Olamide’s enduring influence in the African music scene.

The groundbreaking feat is a testament to Olamide’s unparalleled creativity and relevance. Known for his distinctive sound that fuses traditional Yoruba music with modern hip-hop and Afrobeats, Olamide has captured the hearts of fans across the continent and beyond.

‘Carpe Diem’ is Olamide’s eleventh studio album, featuring collaborations with prominent artists such as Fireboy DML and Omah Lay. The album’s success is a reflection of Olamide’s growth and innovation as an artist, further cementing his legacy as one of the most celebrated figures in African music.

The milestone is not just a win for Olamide but also a victory for the **Nigerian music industry**, showcasing the increasing global recognition and influence of Afrobeats. As Nigerian music continues to thrive on the world stage, Olamide’s accomplishment serves as a powerful example of the genre’s potential to compete internationally.

Recall the Nigerian music scene is abuzz with reports of Afrobeats star Asake allegedly ending his association with YBNL Nation and its founder, Olamide.

Speculation arose after Asake unfollowed Baddo on Instagram and removed YBNL from his bio. The singer also deleted all his Instagram posts, further fueling rumours of a split.

According to popular entertainment blogger Cutie Juls, Asake’s contract with YBNL had expired, and Olamide offered a renewal, which the artist declined. The blogger alleged that negotiations fell through despite Olamide’s efforts to persuade Asake to extend his contract.
