    Spotify has unveiled the top 10 list of the most-streamed gospel artists in Sub-Saharan Africa, with Nigerian gospel musicians making a significant impact.

    The genre of gospel music has experienced a remarkable surge in popularity, with the growth of Nigerian talent contributing heavily to the global reach of this uplifting music.

    Spotify Wrapped 2024 revealed gospel music as one of the top genres in Sub-Saharan Africa, occupying the ninth spot in the most-streamed genres of the region.

    Nigerian gospel artists have played a pivotal role in this surge, with several of them dominating the top rankings.

    Nigerian gospel powerhouses like Nathaniel Bassey, Moses Bliss, Dunsin Oyekan, Sunmisola Agbebi, and Mercy Chinwo have made waves across Sub-Saharan Africa, with their soulful and powerful music touching listeners worldwide.

    The genre has found a new wave of popularity, thanks to the integration of Afrobeats influences, which have expanded its reach even further.

    A notable example is the rise of Afro-gospel, such as the Afrobeats rendition of Maverick City’s In the Room by Zimbabwean artist Annatoria.

    This track helped Annatoria become the highest-streamed female Afro-gospel artist, garnering over 600,000 monthly listeners. Another prime example is Omemma by Chandler Moore, co-written with Nigerian artist Tim Godfrey, which became a viral sensation and made it to the top 20 most-streamed gospel songs in the region.
