MOBO Awards 2025: Asake, Tems, Rema Lead Nigerian Nominees

The MOBO Awards, an annual celebration of Black artists’ achievements in music, have unveiled the nominees for their 2025 ceremony. Nigerian stars Asake, Tems, and Rema are among the nominees, with the event scheduled to take place at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena in England on February 18, 2025.

The 27th edition of the awards features Jorja Smith, Sampha, Bashy, Ghetts, Cleo Sol, Central Cee, and Odeal leading the pack with three nominations each. MOBO Founder Kanya King CBE praised the diversity and excellence of this year’s nominees, highlighting the “incredible talent” and “inspiring strength of the works” within the community.

In the ‘Best African Music Act‘ category, Asake, Tems, and Rema will compete alongside fellow Nigerians Ayra Starr, Bnxn, Ruger, Odumodublvck, and Shallipopi. International nominees include South African stars Tyla and Uncle Waffles, as well as Ghanaian artist King Promise.

Asake, Ayra Starr, and Tems have also been nominated for ‘Best International Act,’ where they will face global icons such as Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar.
