Nigerian superstar Wizkid has unveiled his sixth studio album, Morayo, a deeply personal project dedicated to the memory of his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023.
The album became available on all major streaming platforms early Friday, drawing immediate attention from fans and critics worldwide.
Morayo, which translates to “I See Joy,” is Wizkid’s heartfelt tribute to his mother’s legacy. The album features 16 tracks, including Troubled Mind, Karamo, Kese (Dance), Bad Girl, Time, Piece of My Heart, Break Me Down, Bend, and A Million Blessings.
Arriving three years after his critically acclaimed album More Love, Less Ego, which peaked at No. 2 on the World Albums chart and No. 59 on the Billboard 200, Morayo showcases Wizkid’s growth as an artist while maintaining the soulful essence fans adore.
The album highlights exceptional production work, predominantly handled by long-time collaborator P2J, who masterfully weaves Wizkid’s signature Afrobeats sound with innovative global influences.
Adding to its richness, Morayo includes collaborations with a stellar lineup of artists such as Asake, Brent Faiyaz, Jazmine Sullivan, Anaïs Cardot, and Tiakola. These features, paired with Wizkid’s distinctive style, create a sonically diverse and emotionally resonant album that connects with listeners across the globe.
Fans have already lauded the project’s poignant themes and infectious rhythms, with pre-releases breaking multiple records even before the official launch. Morayo cements Wizkid’s reputation as one of Africa’s most influential musicians and a global music icon
