Nigerian artist Crown Uzama, widely known as Shallipopi, recently hailed Nigerian rapper Olamide as the “king of Nigerian street music.”

In an interview with Naija FM, Shallipopi discussed his collaboration with Baddo on the track ‘Order,’ explaining that Olamide’s strong connection to street music made him the perfect fit for the song. “Baddo [Olamide] is the father and king of Nigerian street music. So I had to feature him on *Order* because it is a street song, and Olamide owns the street,” he shared.

Shallipopi also used the interview to clarify his departure from Dapper Music, confirming that he left the label after his contract expired.

Contrary to rumors of a fallout, he assured fans that there was no bad blood between him and his former label, emphasizing that they remained on good terms.

    Watch him speak below:

Recall, Shallipopi captivated a global audience with the launch of his Spotify RADAR Africa documentary, which delves into his inspiring journey from the streets of Edo State to becoming a chart-topping artist.

The Spotify RADAR Africa documentary opens with Shallipopi returning to his roots in Edo State, offering a glimpse into the environment that shaped his distinctive persona.

This heartfelt homecoming serves as his formal introduction to an international audience, shedding light on the origins of his music and identity.
