Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage remains confident in her self-declared title as the genre’s “big one,” despite facing criticism from both fans and fellow industry figures.

In a recent interview with Beat FM, Tiwa boldly reiterated her claim, emphasizing her talent and vocal skills as the basis for her assertion.

This statement ignited a lively discussion online, with many questioning how she could position herself alongside prominent male artists in the industry.

Unfazed by the backlash, Tiwa took to Instagram to share striking photos of herself, further asserting her confidence with the caption, “I said what I said. Big T.”

Her fans quickly rallied behind her, commending her for her audacity and celebrating her captivating images. The outpouring of support served to reinforce Tiwa’s belief in her status, solidifying her role as a pioneering force within the Afrobeats genre.

In an interview with Tacha (Natacha Akide) on Cool FM, Tiwa acknowledged that, unlike in her formative years, she now creates music that aligns with her artistic vision as an established artist.

Reflecting on her collaboration with Don Jazzy on the hit song ‘Eminado,’ Tiwa shared that she initially had reservations about the track. Despite her hesitations, Don Jazzy insisted it be included in her album. To her surprise, the song went on to achieve significant success.

Tiwa also praised Don Jazzy’s deep understanding of the music market, admitting that she often finds herself reluctantly agreeing with his instincts.

During the interview, Tiwa discussed the unique challenges of being a single mother while managing a thriving music career. She spoke about raising her son, Jamil, and emphasized the invaluable role her mother and support system play.
