2024 Ballon d’Or results ‘leaked’ on eve of award presentation, revealing alleged votes for Vinicius Jr and Rodri.
A list claiming to reveal the top finishers of the 2024 Ballon d’Or has gone viral just before the official award ceremony in Paris, suggesting that Vinicius Jr. is in the lead.
This unverified list indicates that Vinicius has received 630 points, significantly surpassing the total that Lionel Messi achieved in 2023 but falling short of Messi’s 2019 score of 686, Luka Modric’s 2018 tally of 753, and Cristiano Ronaldo’s 946 points in 2017.
According to the leaked standings, Manchester City midfielder Rodri is in second place with 576 points, while Jude Bellingham follows in third with 422 points.
Rumors have circulated since September that Vinicius was aware he had won, although he has not received any official confirmation.
Reports from L’Equipe state that this marks the first time the winner hasn’t been formally informed ahead of the ceremony, which has typically included interviews and photoshoots prior to the event.
The alleged top 12 finishers based on the leaked information are as follows:
1. Vinicius Junior – 630 points
2. Rodri – 576 points
3. Jude Bellingham – 422 points
4. Kylian Mbappe – 317 points
5. Harry Kane – 201 points
6. Erling Haaland – 195 points
7. Lamine Yamal – 128 points
8. Phil Foden – 29 points
9. Dani Olmo – 25 points
10. Florian Wirtz – 24 points
11. Dani Carvajal – 17 points
12. Antonio Rudiger – unknown points
If confirmed, Vinicius would make history as the first Ballon d’Or winner born in the 21st century. Interestingly, the men’s award has never been won by anyone born in the 1990s, largely due to the prolonged dominance of Cristiano Ronaldo (born in 1985) and Lionel Messi (born in 1987).
The Ballon d’Or trophy will be awarded at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on Monday evening, alongside the Feminin prize, which Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati is favored to win, as well as additional awards like the Kopa Trophy, Yachine Trophy, and new coaching accolades.
