Ghana has shown me more love than Nigeria – Oxlade
Nigerian Afrobeats artist Oxlade has expressed his deep gratitude towards Ghanaians for their consistent support and appreciation of his music, revealing that he feels more love and acceptance from fans in Ghana than in his home country of Nigeria.
Ahead of the release of his debut album ‘Oxlade From Africa,’ the singer took to social media to voice frustrations over what he described as attempts to undermine his career.
In a recent interview, Oxlade clarified his earlier posts on X (formerly Twitter), where he accused certain “OGs” in the Nigerian music industry of boycotting and blackmailing him.
He explained that these posts were fueled by his disdain for individuals who try to “play god” and manipulate the careers of others.
He further explained that some of the issues he faces in the music industry often have little to do with his actual music. “Sometimes, it’s because they feel I see them outside and I don’t greet them well,” Oxlade explained in Pidgin English, alluding to personal grievances that can impact professional relationships.
However, he made it clear that he doesn’t wish to dwell on the matter or name names, as he doesn’t want to give undue attention to these individuals.

In ‘Oxlade From Africa,’ the singer features Ghanaian hip-hop legend Sarkodie, which he said was inspired by the immense love he receives from Ghana.
He mentioned that the support from Ghanaian fans has been overwhelming compared to what he feels from his Nigerian fanbase.
This sentiment mirrors similar claims made by other Nigerian artists, such as Rema, who recently shared that he receives more love from fans in India than in Nigeria.
Oxlade’s debut album title was also shaped by his personal experience of racism in France, where his hit single *Kulosa* earned an SNEP diamond certification. As he continues to promote the album, Oxlade remains vocal about the challenges he’s faced, both personally and professionally, in the industry.
