Korede Bello opens up on reason he left Mavins Records
Nigerian singer Korede Bello has opened up about his decision to leave Mavins Records, where he was signed from 2014 to 2021.
In a recent interview with Hip TV, the “Godwin” singer explained that his departure was driven by a need to reevaluate his personal growth and artistic purpose.
Bello shared, “I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why.”
He further elaborated that he began to feel like a “product” focused solely on generating revenue for the label, saying, “You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit, the next whatever it is that can get you into conversations. A lot of artists are addicted to that circle.”
His decision to step away from Mavins was ultimately about reconnecting with his artistic identity and finding deeper meaning in his music career.
In a recent interview on the Say My Piece podcast, hosted by actress Lolo, Korede Bello revealed that he avoids activities that could easily become addictive due to his personality.
He recounted his experience with smoking marijuana in his youth and his decision to abstain from it.
Bello stressed the importance of self-awareness and understanding one’s limits to avoid harmful habits.
He stated, “You have to know yourself well. Some people can indulge in certain things and come out fine, while others cannot. You have to know yourself so you don’t follow everybody.”
