Nigerian singer-songwriter Ayra Starr has achieved a new personal record with her latest album, “The Year I Turned 21,” on Spotify, surpassing the success of her previous works.

This milestone highlights her growing popularity and the expanding global influence of the Afrobeats genre.

Previously, her album “19 & Dangerous” held her personal best with 571 million streams. However, she has now broken that record.

Her latest release, “The Year I Turned 21,” has amassed 575 million streams on Spotify, making it her most streamed album to date. The album explores themes of growth, love, and heartbreak, all infused with her distinctive Afrobeats sound. It features 15 tracks and collaborations with artists like Anitta, Coco Jones, and Giveon, as well as the hit single “Santa” with Rvssian and Rauw Alejandro.

In addition to setting a new personal best, “The Year I Turned 21″ is currently the most streamed album of 2024, a title Ayra Starr has held for some time.

In other news, Ayra Starr has made her debut on the American music scene, hitting the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart with her song “Last Heartbreak Song,” featuring American artist Giveon.

The track entered the chart at No. 34, marking a significant milestone for Ayra Starr as it is her first appearance on this prominent chart.

“Last Heartbreak Song” also represents Giveon’s fifth appearance on the chart, adding to his impressive track record that includes the No. 1 hit “Heartbreak Anniversary,” which topped the chart for two weeks in 2021.

Ayra Starr expressed her excitement about this achievement on social media, sharing her joy with crying emojis. The song is part of her sophomore album, “The Year I Turned 21,” which has been well-received and highlights her growth as an artist.
