American rapper Nicki Minaj recently surprised and delighted her Nigerian fans by tweeting in Pidgin English.
The rapper took to the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) to address what appeared to be false claims made about her. In a passionate response, Nicki expressed her frustration, highlighting how some people seem to make money only by mentioning her name.
In her tweet, she wrote: “I must be the only person you can make money off mentioning. Go 1 day. Abeg. GO ONE FUCKING DAY WITHOUT FKNG LYING ABEG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
When a Nigerian fan, @tyxhndrxx, playfully asked who had been teaching her Pidgin English, Nicki quickly responded, noting that she sees the Pidgin English Nigerians frequently use on her timeline.
She replied, “Wetin be the confusion? I Dey have eyes o? I can read all the pidgin weh una pikin de put on my timeline every day. SUCKS TEETH LOUDLY”
Nicki Minaj’s use of Pidgin English has endeared her even more to her Nigerian fanbase, showcasing her ability to connect with fans from different cultures in a fun and relatable way.

During a recent live stream on StationHead, Minaj, often referred to as the ‘Queen of Rap,’ spoke highly of the Grammy-winning artist, highlighting her deep respect for him. She described Wizkid as “a very cool and chill guy,” emphasizing his intelligence and down-to-earth nature.
“He’s really that guy, very smart. I have much love and respect for him,” Minaj said during the stream.
The rap icon also shared that she first met Wizkid while working on her 2018 album “Queen” in a studio located in Queens, New York.
