Nigerian artist and performer Chinedu Izuchukwu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour, shared his thoughts on Asake’s style of music. Currently on a media tour, Flavour has been making headlines with his candid interviews.

In a recent conversation with UK-based Nigerian media personality Adesope Olajide on “The Afrobeats Podcast,” Flavour expressed his admiration for Asake’s unique approach to music.

Although Flavour himself identifies as a highlife musician rather than an Afrobeats artist, he praised Asake for staying true to his roots in Fuji, a traditional African genre, while also embracing contemporary sounds.

Flavour noted that this blend of traditional and modern elements makes Asake’s music even more compelling, showcasing the diversity and richness of African music.

In other news, Flavour recently made headlines by declaring that he does not identify as an Afrobeats artist.

This statement was made during an interview on the Afrobeats podcast hosted by Adesope Shopsdoo on Instagram.

Flavour’s unexpected admission has sparked interest and debate among music enthusiasts. When asked about his thoughts on the dominance of Afrobeats artists like Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy, Flavour took the opportunity to clarify his genre, explaining that his music represents a unique brand of African music that shouldn’t be confined to the Afrobeats label.

The singer, known for his captivating live performances and hit songs like “Ada Ada” and “Game Changer (Dike),” emphasized the diversity of African music.

He pointed out that successful artists from other regions, such as Fally Ipupa from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania, also represent different styles that are distinct from Afrobeats.
