South African sensation Tyla recently shared insights into her growth in the global music scene during an interview with V Magazine.

In the interview, the singer-songwriter discussed her artistic evolution and the inspiration behind her highly acclaimed debut album.

Tyla revealed that her passion for both fashion and music ignited at a young age. However, financial constraints initially limited her ability to fully explore her creative pursuits. With the success of her career, she now embraces the opportunity to experiment with her style and wear the pieces she has always desired.

Musically, Tyla’s vision has been consistent: to introduce African sounds to a global audience by fusing diverse genres. She acknowledged the numerous trials and errors she encountered throughout her musical journey, emphasizing that these experiences have culminated in a sound she is proud to share with the world.

Tyla’s commitment to showcasing African music on an international stage, coupled with her unique fashion sense, has significantly contributed to her rising stardom. Her story is one of perseverance and creativity, resonating with fans and aspiring artists alike.

Recall, In a cover story with Dazed published on Wednesday (June 5), Tyla expressed her annoyance with the frequent analogies drawn between her work, particularly her song “Water,” and Britney Spears’ iconic “I’m a Slave 4 U” visuals. “It’s getting boring now,” she remarked, highlighting the repetitive nature of these comparisons despite her team’s efforts to innovate.

Tyla clarified that these references are often exaggerated and not intentional. “Honestly, when people bring up these references, most of the time, there was never a reference. It’s never, ‘Make the video look completely like this,’” she explained.
