Logos Olori Claims Burna Boy and Wizkid Use Songwriters Too.
Nigerian singer Logos Olori has revealed that top Nigerian artists, Burna Boy and Wizkid, also employ songwriters for their music. This revelation comes as a defense of his boss, Davido, who has faced criticism for using songwriters.
In an interview with City 105.1 FM, Logos Olori explained that the music industry is a business, and as an artist’s popularity increases, their time to write songs diminishes.
He stated, “Most people that shame artists for using songwriters don’t know much about the music business. As a musician, you tend to write your songs most times when you are up-and-coming. When you’ve 10 shows in a week in different countries, you’ll understand that you need a songwriter.”
He further mentioned that international artists like Chris Brown and Michael Jackson have used songwriters. “Davido is currently on tour immediately after his wedding. He writes his songs sometimes, but most times he has to do the business part of it. That’s how Burna Boy is, that’s how most artists are, even Wizkid, but they don’t just put it out there. If you go to Spotify to check for the credits of their songs, you will see that they use songwriters as well,” he added.
Logos Olori also explained that while up-and-coming artists often write their own songs, once they achieve a certain level of success, they need assistance to balance their workload.
By mentioning Burna Boy and Wizkid, he highlighted that using songwriters is a common practice among top artists and is not unique to Davido.
