Sophia Momodu accuses Davido of abandoning Imade for 2 years amid custody battle
In a recent legal dispute over custody, Sophia Momodu has accused Nigerian music star Davido of neglecting their daughter, Imade, for the past two years. The statement issued by Momodu’s legal representatives, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors and Bimpe Ajegbomogun & Co., was obtained exclusively by Pulse Nigeria.
Davido had initiated legal proceedings seeking unrestricted access to Imade, citing his consistent financial support for her education, accommodation, and other needs. He claimed Momodu refused his offer of accommodation in a condo he purchased, insisting on continued financial support for rented accommodation.
Momodu’s response, dated June 22, 2024, countered Davido’s claims, asserting that he had not seen Imade since July 2022 by his own choice. She stated that, despite their relationship ending in 2022, she never denied him access to their daughter. Momodu alleged that Davido had threatened her over her refusal to engage with him sexually.
Furthermore, Momodu claimed Davido has ceased fulfilling his financial obligations towards Imade since July 2022, leaving her to cover expenses alone, including school fees and other living costs. She highlighted instances where Davido allegedly ignored school fee payments until legal intervention by his father.
Momodu emphasized that her attempts to establish a formal co-parenting arrangement were met with resistance from Davido’s legal team, who she accused of using his social influence to isolate her. She maintained that her primary concern was Imade’s emotional well-being and criticized Davido for portraying himself as an active father on social media while neglecting his daughter’s real needs.
The statement concluded with Momodu expressing her desire to move forward peacefully and free from harassment, emphasizing that she wishes Davido well in his current relationship.
This legal dispute underscores the complexities and challenges of co-parenting in the public eye, involving issues of access, financial support, and emotional care for the child involved.
