Nigerian award-winning artist Tems recently shared her admiration for fellow artist Ayra Starr from Mavin Records.

Tems expressed her praise for Ayra Starr, saying, “I would like to give flowers to this young girl called Ayra Starr.” She mentioned they had met years ago and that Ayra reminded her of herself. Continuing her appreciation, Tems added, “She’s a hardworking girl, she deserves all the flowers.”

Fans were thrilled not only by Tems‘ compliments but also by her hint at a possible collaboration between them. The Grammy Award winner hinted, “possibly,” at a future collaboration with Ayra Starr.

Both Tems and Ayra Starr have been prominent figures in Afrobeats since the second quarter of 2024.

They each released impressive debut and sophomore albums, with these albums making waves by debuting on the UK album charts.

Ayra Starr’s album also achieved recognition on the France album chart, showcasing their international appeal and success in the music industry.

In other news, Following her UK charts debut, Tems has another reason to celebrate, having dominated the global chart with her song making Rolling Stone’s 2024 list.

Her soulful single “Love Me JeJe” has been named one of the best songs of 2024 by Rolling Stone magazine.

The song, released in April as the lead single from her debut album “Born in the Wild,” has garnered significant acclaim.

“Love Me JeJe” interpolates Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 hit of the same name and features a cameo from Sodimu in the music video, which Tems self-directed as a loving homage to her hometown of Lagos.

This recognition by Rolling Stone adds to the growing appeal of “Born in the Wild,” with Tems being the only African artist featured on the list this year.
