Ruger discusses ending his beef with BNXN and his latest singles ‘Luv Again’ and ‘Make Way’.
In an interview with Beats FM 99.9, Ruger delved into the inspiration behind his latest singles, ‘Luv Again‘ and ‘Make Way‘, and shed light on reconciling his beef with BNXN.
Ruger and BNXN (formerly Buju) had a highly publicized feud spanning nearly three years, largely fueled by fan comparisons, which Ruger acknowledged as initially contributing to their discord.
“Comparison is a joy killer, but it’s part of the game. It entertains people, sparks arguments,” Ruger shared with Beat FM, reflecting on how fan comparisons escalated their rift.
However, Ruger highlighted a shift in perspective that led to reconciliation: “We moved beyond the comparisons and asked ourselves, ‘How can we create great music together?’ There are so many distractions in music today. Some artists release subpar work but use heavy promotion budgets to push it, and it succeeds… Our joint EP ‘RnB’ is a testament to creating quality music.”
Regarding his new singles, Ruger described ‘Luv Again‘ as a declaration of his openness to love again while maintaining flexibility. He also mentioned his current relationship status, noting that despite finding it easy to fall in love, he is presently single due to an upcoming European tour scheduled for the summer.
Ruger’s openness about his music, personal journey, and reconciled collaboration with BNXN underscores his growth and evolving perspective within Nigeria’s vibrant music scene.
