Juventus have confirmed the appointment of Thiago Motta as their new manager. The Serie A giants had been searching for a new manager for the past month following the departure of Massimiliano Allegri, amid the controversy that ensued after their Coppa Italia final victory.

Juventus quickly set their sights on Motta and have now finalized a deal to bring the 41-year-old to Turin this summer. “I am really happy to begin a new chapter at the helm of a great club like Juventus,” Motta told the club’s official website. “I thank the owners and the management, who can be sure of my ambition to keep the Juventus flag flying high and to please the fans.”
Motta joins Juventus after an impressive two-year stint with Bologna, during which he led the team to their first Champions League qualification and finished just three points behind Juventus in the Serie A standings.
The former Paris Saint-Germain and Inter midfielder garnered praise for Bologna’s positive style of play, achieving club-record points tallies in both seasons under his management.
Motta faces the challenge of returning Juventus to the top of the Serie A table after several seasons of being part of the chasing pack. The club has not lifted the league title since 2020 and only returned to the top three this past season for the first time in four years.
Already involved in transfer discussions, Motta has reportedly approved a move for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz. This transfer could see Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling Jr heading to the Premier League in exchange.
