Medikal explains the reason for his British accent
Ghanaian rapper Medikal recently surprised fans by shedding light on the origins of his distinct British accent.
Media personality Olele Salvador took to Twitter, expressing curiosity about this unique aspect of Medikal’s speech. “[Salvador] Just like many of you, I was curious about why @Medikalbyk has a familiar British accent when he speaks, whether in interviews or in some of his rap verses,” Salvador tweeted.
In response, Medikal himself provided the answer, as Olele shared a video of the rapper explaining. In the clip, Medikal revealed that he lived in Brixton, London, at the age of 11 and even attended school there.
This revelation adds another dimension to Medikal’s background and artistic influences. The rapper’s affinity for the medical field, reflected in his chosen stage name, may also have been influenced by his time spent in London and exposure to its medical system.

In a flurry of posts on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, Medikal announced his decision to block Davido across all social media platforms, citing what he perceived as a betrayal of loyalty.
He disclosed that this choice stemmed from Davido’s decision to unfollow him, coupled with disrespectful remarks made by members of Davido’s DMW crew towards his close friend and mentor, Sarkodie.
Medikal underscored the importance of loyalty in his tweets, emphasizing his commitment to reciprocating the loyalty he receives. While he refrained from boasting about his past acts of support, he made it clear that he expects a similar level of loyalty from his friends and associates.
One of Medikal’s tweets directed at Davido encapsulated his stance: “Davido just unfollowed me, so I made it easier for him—I blocked him. Loyalty surpasses talent.”
